A brief history of the best little dental practice in Sarasota…
MySmile Dentistry was founded upon the dreams of two amazing women, Dr. Kristina Russell and Dr. Martina Mallery. They are the practicing doctors at MySmile Dentistry, and are also best friends. The family dental office located at 846 S. Osprey Ave in the heart of Sarasota is the shining jewel of these doctor’s efforts.Martina Mallery was born and grew up in Czechoslovakia. Her lifelong goal was to be a doctor and live in a place where your dreams are only limited by how hard you are willing to work. As soon as the curtain of communism was lifted, she left her family, friends and home and set out to make her dream a reality. She eventually arrived in Las Vegas to study biology at UNLV.
Kristina Russell was born in Ottawa Canada. Kristina and her husband John also found American opportunity (and warmer weather) attractive so they moved to Las Vegas where Kristina also studied biology at UNLV to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.
Tina and Martina were classmates and lab partners at UNLV, becoming best of friends and roommates. Both girls worked extremely hard throughout their undergraduate years and were subsequently accepted to Dental School. Dr. Russell graduated as a Doctor of Dental Medicine from Nova Southeastern in Ft. Lauderdale and Dr. Mallery graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery from USC in Los Angeles.
Dr. Mallery began practicing in Orange County California for several years before deciding that the corporate dental practices were not to her liking; she wanted a more intimate, family oriented office which takes the time to focus on the needs of the patient. Dr. Russell had a similar experience in her first position after graduating from dental school. She decided to open MySmile Dentistry in Feb of 2008 in Sarasota with nothing more than some loans from family and friends and a confidence that she and her husband John would be able to make her dream a reality. Dr. Mallery, her husband Rob and their two boys Martin and Lucas, visited several months later and loved everything Kristina and John were doing. The partnership was born.
Ever since that moment, both families have worked to create the most comfortable, caring, innovative, and all-around best dental office in town.

We always take outstanding care of our patients and make sure they are treated like family. If they’re scared, comfort them, if they’re confused, educate them, if they are nervous, sedate them :-) if they are funny, laugh with them, but above all, treat them like you would expect yourself to be treated.
This philosophy has served us well in our growth from tiny start-up with no patients, to a thriving office of returning customers who proudly proclaim us to be “Their Dentist!” We don’t take this trust lightly and we will continue to make each experience as positive as possible.
